Quay West Suites Melbourne
26 Southgate Ave., Southbank, Melbourne 3006, Australia
Pros
Great location
Good customer service
Complete amenities
Cons
Average food quality
I recently stayed at this hotel for a business conference that lasted for three days. All the other high-class hotels are fully booked so this was actually not my choice but then again I could say that I pretty much enjoyed my experience in Quay West.
The hotel is located at the centre of the great restaurants in South Bank, within walking distance from the Convention Centre and the CBD with accessible transportation. It is a bit secluded from the noisy and busy streets of Melbourne so I think it is ideal for those who would want to relax after an eventful day. I stayed in a 1-bedroom apartment; the bedroom was separate from the living room which I liked because it meant that I could entertain guests without them having to see my personal stuff. The room had a good view of the Yarra and Federation Square and was equipped with a kitchenette, a washing machine, wide-screen TV and a DVD player. The kitchenette was very useful for my midnight snacking and had I known that there was also a DVD player I could have brought my movie collection. I didn’t expect it would have the same amenities as the more famous luxury hotels.
The hotel had a gym and a pool. I didn’t get to use either because of my hectic schedule but I got the chance to see them so I could tell that they were top of the line. The people were all very professional and friendly, great customer service. They told me about the GHA Discovery program so I got to avail of free internet, thank you. Food was nice but not mouth-watering. Then again, this is only a minor concern since most of the time I was at the Convention Centre where food was free and overflowing. Overall, I didn’t know that Quay West was a top class hotel but now that i have experienced it, I would definitely come back and recommend it to my friends and colleagues.
